Laser Tools Racing signs up Jack Mitchell for Michelin Ginetta GT4 Supercup
Jack Mitchell is excited to announce that he will return to the Michelin Ginetta GT4 Supercup this season with Laser Tools Racing.
The 18 year old got his first competitive taste of the mighty Ginetta G55 in the 2016 Supercup season when he competed in the Silverstone and Brands Hatch rounds, with an impressive 5th place at Silverstone and 3rd and 4th classifications at the Brands Hatch races. Jack then went on to compete in the 2017 Dubai 24 Hours as part of a four-driver Ginetta G55 team, which included future Laser Tools Racing team mate Aiden Moffat. The team proved their talent with a spectacular 2nd place in the SP3-GT4 class.
Speaking at the recent pre-season test session at Oulton Park, Jack Mitchell commented: ‘I’m delighted to be back behind the wheel of the Ginetta G55, and with the backing and resource of Laser Tools Racing I’m looking forward to a great season’s racing. The Laser Tools Racing family has made me very welcome and this pre-season testing has been very positive.’
Managing Director of Laser Tools, Martin Smith is confident: ‘Our company makes a point of encouraging young talent, and we’ve had great success with Aiden Moffat’s performance in the BTCC over the past three seasons; we are positive that we will repeat this success with Jack Mitchell.’
Bob Moffat, Team Principal of Laser Tools Racing is similarly enthusiastic. ‘Jack and Aiden have been mates for many years and the pair showed that they work together very well at the recent Dubai 24 Hour race,’ he said. ‘It will be great to see another Laser Tool Racing liveried car out on the track.’
The Michelin Ginetta GT4 Supercup is Ginetta’s flagship championship. Seen as a stepping stone into global GT and prototype racing, it caters for career drivers and gentleman racers alike. Featuring both Professional and Amateur classes, both of which enjoy their own points structure and prize giving, the format ensures competitors with time-consuming workloads are not at a disadvantage to those career racers who can test and train throughout the week. It is also part of the British Touring Car Championship support package and being broadcast live on ITV4, it offers unrivalled exposure for drivers, teams and sponsors. Ashley Gallagher, Ginetta Championships Manager said, ‘The Supercup is going to be particularly hotly contested this year, and we’ve got some terrific teams and drivers signed up so far. With the news that Jack Mitchell and Laser Tools Racing are joining us there is no doubt that this is going to be another exciting year for the championship.’
The Michelin Ginetta GT4 Supercup Championship and the British Touring Car Championship kicks off at Brands Hatch on April 1-2 but Jack Mitchell will be unveiling the new Laser Tools Racing livery on his Ginetta G55 at the BTCC Media Day on March 16 at Donington Park.
