Chloe Grant Faced a Challenging Weekend at the GB4 Snetterton Round
Turbo troubles, incidents, and lessons learnt as Chloe Grant returns to Snetterton
Chloe Grant's return to Snetterton after a two-year hiatus was marked by highs and lows, providing valuable lessons over the weekend. Extensive simulator training helped her quickly reacquaint herself with the Snetterton circuit, setting the stage for Thursday and Friday's testing sessions. These sessions revealed a lack of power on the straights, traced to a turbo issue that was promptly resolved.
In Saturday’s qualifying session Chloe was performing well until she was blocked in the final sector of her fastest lap, costing her nearly half a second and impacting her starting position.
Starting Race 1 from P9, Chloe found herself in a heated battle for P7. Unfortunately, a competitor collided with her from behind, causing significant damage to her rear wing and crash box. This forced her into the pits and resulted in a DNF.
In Race 2, Chloe started again from P9. Despite clean racing, she struggled with the pronounced dirty air at Snetterton, which proved more challenging than any other track this year. She managed to finish in P7, showcasing her resilience despite the conditions.
Race 3 began with Chloe in P4, but an early mistake led to a jump start and an immediate 10-second penalty. She continued to race competitively until a minor collision damaged her steering, preventing her from completing the race.
Reflecting on her 4th outing of the year, Chloe said, “Although the weekend was not as successful as hoped, I’m remaining positive and the team and I have identified the issues to address before the next round at Silverstone GP.”
Round 5 of the 2024 GB4 Championship is set for 27th - 28th July at Silverstone GP, before the series returns to Donington Park GP and concludes at Brands Hatch GP in September. Chloe's season is proudly supported by Laser Tools Racing, John Clark Motor Group, Specsavers, and John Miller Limited.
