GB4 Championship — Brands Hatch GP Report

Mixed weather condition and mixed fortunes for the Laser Tools Racing GB4 team at Brands Hatch on the weekend:

Logan Hannah:

Having missed the Friday test on the Brands Hatch Indy circuit (the weekend’s racing would be on the longer GP circuit), I was keen to hit the ground running!
A strong showing in qualifying and a possible lap that would have put me in P4 was just the confidence boost I needed ahead of the three races. Ultimately finishing P6 in qualifying, after having my best lap time disallowed for track limits

Race 1:
Starting P6, I was looking to make use of the pace I had shown in the day so far!
Due to a starting infringement, I had been given a 10-second penalty before the race had even begun. Unaware of the penalty I looked to push forward in what ended up being extremely tricky conditions as it started to rain! Ultimately finishing in P7 on track and P8 in the final results.

Race 2:
Starting in P6 again, I was keen to make right of the mistakes I had made in Race 1.
A few mega laps and moves to be able to make it back up the field after another missed start, I was chasing down the cars ahead and dropped the cars I had just overtaken but unfortunately dropped a wheel on the grass on the exit of Westfield and that was my race over.

Race 3:
What really should have been a shot at redemption after the previous two races lining up in P3, didn’t quite go to plan with another poor getaway and ultimately a final race around the GP circuit spent on my own, finishing in P8.

The weekend that started out so well unfortunately finished on a sour note. Car and team were fantastic all weekend, so looking to the positives and learning from the negatives ahead of the last round at Donington on the weekend of October 15-16.

Chloe Grant:

What a weekend! I said at the beginning of the week Brands Hatch has always been good to me and it has prevailed again. After mechanical issues throughout both test days, our race results felt even more amazing. We made up one place in the first race with mixed conditions from P8 to P7. Race 2 was a great one, making my way through with some good passes I secured my best finish yet in P4 from P8. Being the fourth fastest on track, the results really reflect the grid pace. So much fun!

In Race 3, I was off pole on reverse grid and fought hard to keep it there, but ultimately the quicker cars got through and we finished P5. Which, again, is still up there with our best result.

This weekend, having Gordie Mutch coach me was invaluable. I couldn’t have done it without you, and wouldn’t want to!

And as always, thank you to those who make this possible; Laser Tools Racing, John Clark Motor Group, Workflo Solutions, the BWRDC, and, of course, my family. This weekend was extra special as my sister Katie came to support trackside for the first time this year, and friends from the JSCC paddock were able to come along too!

We have four weeks now until the final round of the GB4 Championship at Donington Park, but the work gets harder as training continues and week one of college begins!
