Jake Hill crowned 2024 BTCC Champion

Jake Hill capped off a sensational season by clinching the 2024 BTCC title in a dramatic finale at Brands Hatch. The Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport driver showcased nerves of steel and supreme racecraft to seal his maiden championship crown.

Race 1:

Starting the final race day in sixth, with his chief rival Tom Ingram on the front row, Jake’s title hopes were on a knife-edge. But drama struck early—on the opening lap, his rivals clashed at Druids, allowing Jake to jump into second by turn two. From there, he executed a clean pass on teammate Colin Turkington to take the lead and claim his eighth win of the season.

Race 2:

The second race saw Jake start from pole in his WSR-run 330e M Sport, and he initially maintained control, earning a crucial point for leading a lap. However, the damp conditions played into the hands of the front-wheel-drive cars, and Ingram soon took the lead, relegating Jake to second. As just one point separating them heading into the final race, with the reverse-grid system, Jake started sixth on the grid, with Ingram just behind in seventh.

Race 3:

As the rain intensified, the pressure mounted. In a chaotic start, Jake slipped to sixth while Ingram climbed to fourth. Undeterred, Jake launched a relentless attack, outduelling Dan Cammish to claim fifth before delivering a breathtaking outside pass on Ingram at Surtees. As they powered down the straight, Hill held his nerve and secured the inside line for Hawthorns, grabbing fourth place.

From there, he continued his charge, overtaking both Taylor-Smith and Cook to move into second. Crossing the finish line, Jake secured the BTCC title in style, completing a remarkable 2024 season with 421 points, eight wins, and 16 podium finishes.

Jake’s maiden championship victory marks a fitting end to a campaign filled with grit, determination, and brilliant racing.

After the racing had finished, Jake Hill commented: “Being the 2024 BTCC Champion feels incredible—it hasn’t quite sunk in yet. This is everything I’ve ever dreamed of and more. I’m overwhelmed by the support; it truly leaves me speechless.

“As I approached the last corner at Clearways, the emotions started to hit me, and I got a bit teary-eyed — we just brought it home. Crossing the finish line was an amazing experience.
