Round 1 of Daniel Ricciardo Kart Series @ Hooton Park
This weekend was the first round of the Daniel Ricciardo Series and also my first time in the senior kart, going into the weekend oblivious to its power and ability, not much went right for us.
Saturday was problem after problem with a stuck throttle cable sending me backwards into a wall, the set up all over the place and the kart breaking down on the final session only leaving me with one proper practice session which went okay but saw me 1.2+ seconds off pace.
Sunday came and seeing us have multiple mechanical faults saw us miss the first practice of scrubbing in tyres so we had to ask for a session delaying the racing, grinding my sprocket losing loads of teeth and having none left to change to and a clutch bearing go during qualifying which made us rush to get it repaired for the first heat.
Qualifying 7th
Heat 1 - 7th ➡️ 7th
Pre final - 7th ➡️ 11th >Had a spin<
This put me 8th on grid for the final where I was patient and watched the race unfold with accidents occurring and drivers getting penalties I guided the kart to 4th, but because of a penalty from another driver put me on the podium 🥉
Although not much went right I was delighted to get a podium considering the problems we had!
A massive thank you to Laser Tools Racing and a huge thanks to my team for getting the kart sorted rapidly and getting me out on the track!
Well done to Elliot for the 1st place and Ben for the 2nd place 🏆
