Another successful meeting for the Laser Tools Racing team with another amazing win for Ash Sutton!
This weekend saw the annual trip north of the border to Aiden Moffat’s home track, Knockhill Racing Circuit in Scotland. A favourite among fans and drivers alike the circuit is a brilliant challenge and is one of the few circuits to have steep downhill sections, power sapping uphill sections, crests that leave the cars on two wheels and an incredibly tight uphill right hand hairpin. Each lap is quite short, but totally action-packed. This will be the 29th year of BTCC action here since its first visit in 1992! The first Free Practice session was held in very wet, misty,...
Oulton Park 2021 - drama, crashes and then more drama and more crashes!
Saturday started wet and miserable at the Cheshire circuit, soggy conditions for Free Practice session 1 and drier for the second session. However the vital qualifying session later in the afternoon was perfectly dry. Despite the mixed weather Laser Tools Racing gained a lot of useful data in the mixed conditions. The qualifying session finished with team results (and thus starting positions for Race 1 on the Sunday) of Ash Sutton 10th, Aiden Moffat 12th and Carl Boardley 19th. Race 1The race started with a good getaway for all three of our drivers but disaster on lap 1: Ash and...
Another successful BTCC weekend for Laser Tools Racing
Two podiums for the team, one for our reigning BTCC Champion, Ash Sutton, and one for Aiden Moffat! The qualifying session on Saturday afternoon was (as usual on the very short Brands Hatch Indy circuit) difficult for drivers, with laps times only around 48 seconds, and 29 cars on the track trying their best to get a clear run. Not an easy task. Aiden was proving to be fast and after fitting a new set of tyres, even faster. The session finished with very respectable results for the team: Aiden in 5th, Ash in 7th and Carl in 18th. Race...
It was HOT at Snetterton for Laser Tools Racing
What a day’s racing at Snetterton for Laser Tools Racing! After a difficult qualifying session on the Saturday, the team’s fortunes were on the rise again on Sunday after a stellar drive by current BTCC Champion Ash Sutton who in Race 2 stormed from 11th place on the grid to take the win! Free Practice SessionsOn Saturday morning’s free practice sessions all three of our cars were running as many set ups as possible looking ahead to the hot conditions that were due on Saturday and Sunday. With 20 minutes to go of the first session Ash was still 24th,...
Wet & windy Thruxton hosts the opening rounds of the 2021 British Touring Car Championship
Saturday, it was a wet and windy Thruxton Circuit in Hampshire for the opening rounds of the 2021 British Touring Car Championship. Early on Saturday morning there was over 9mm of rain in a driving wind and things were not looking great unless you love seat of the pants, technically demanding racing. Luckily we have a team that are brilliant in just these circumstances and drivers that are just as good. For the first of two free practice sessions, we saw Ash Sutton topping the time sheets less than 5 seconds off last year’s dry pole, with Aiden Moffat right...
