Winning Weekend at Silverstone for Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport

Jake Hill and Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport are heading into the British Touring Car Championship finale tied for the championship lead after a stellar weekend at Silverstone, featuring a win, second place, and a hard-fought fifth.

The weekend kicked off in dry conditions, with Jake quickly finding his pace. He ended the first practice session in second but dropped to 12th in practice two as the team focused on preparation for a crucial qualifying session. Qualifying saw Hill narrowly miss the ‘Quick Six’ shootout, placing ninth on the grid. However, post-session penalties bumped him up to fifth, setting the stage for an intense race day.

Sunday’s opening race began on a soaked Silverstone circuit. Starting from the third row, Hill wasted no time, executing a brilliant move around the outside of Josh Cook at Copse to settle into third. He soon caught WSR teammate Colin Turkington, passing him for second, and set his sights on leader Tom Ingram. Despite recording blistering lap times, Hill finished a close second, just 0.641 seconds behind.

In Race 2, starting second, Jake pressured Ingram early. He pulled off a stunning inside pass at Brooklands before leading through Luffield, and went onto secure his seventh win of the season—the most in his BTCC career. The victory pushed him into a tie for the championship lead.

The final race saw Hill start sixth, but torrential rain and a red flag halted proceedings. After a lengthy delay, the race resumed, and Hill fought his way to fourth, only to be hit with a time penalty for contact, dropping him to fifth.

Leaving Silverstone tied with Ingram at 365 points, Jake is ready for the Brands Hatch showdown. "Another fantastic year at Silverstone!" he said. "Another win, a P2 and a P5 in the end. A huge thank you to Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport for giving me the best car I could ask for this weekend.

“We knew it was going to be tough, but we came away with a lot more than we expected. We now go to Brands Hatch as the joint leaders of the BTCC and everything to play for!

“A massive thank you goes out to the incredible team around me for all their hard work and also for those who are behind me and support me all the way. It’s much appreciated and I will continue to fight as hard as I possibly can at my home race and give you all the title fight you want."
