Laser Tools Racing has today (December 5th) announced its withdrawal from the BTCC and will not be contesting the championship in 2023. The team has enjoyed great success in the UK’s foremost motorsport series after its inception in 2014 as an independent BTCC team with driver Aiden Moffat. In 2020 the team geared up to two cars as Ashley Sutton joined. That year the Drivers’ Championship was awarded to Sutton with the team picking up the Independent Teams’ trophy. The Donington Park GP circuit was the venue for the season finale of the MSV GB4 Championship held over the weekend of October 15-16. The Laser Tools Racing team of Logan Hannah and Chloe Grant were at Donington for the second time this year, Logan being rewarded with a convincing race win the last time round. Well, that is the end of another season. Laser Tools Racing finished 4th in the Independent Teams’ Championship, with Aiden 6th in the Independent Drivers’ Championship and Dexter in 11th in his first season. We have had laughs, we have had frustrations and we have had trophies. Mind you, we have also suffered from the new technology that has been particularly unkind to us in the way of failures. The penultimate round of this year’s Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship took place at our local Silverstone circuit in Northamptonshire. Running on the 1.64-mile national circuit, Silverstone is always all-action, and given its place as the ninth of ten rounds, things are always ultra-competitive as championships can be won and lost here. Cooler weather this time, which gave the tyre technicians a lot to think about this weekend. So the two free-practice sessions on Saturday were very stop-start affairs as the teams tried to get temperature in the tyres and then to get the relevant data from the set-ups....
